Aim

The aim of the STCW Security Awareness and designated security duties is to provide knowledge for seafarers with designated security duties in connection with a Ship Security Plan (SSP) to perform their duties in accordance with the requirements of Chapter XI-2 of SOLAS 74 as amended, the ISPS Code, and section A-VI/6 of the STCW

Target audience

This course is designed for every seafarer who is designated to perform security duties on board including anti-piracy and anti-armed-robbery related activities.

Delegates pre-requisites

No prerequisites are required, but delegate must be aged 18 or over to enrol onto this course.

Physical and stressful demands

Training activities contained within the IMO standards may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully. The Centre shall keep a record of the delegate’s/candidate’s declaration of fitness in accordance with their document control policy or procedures.
